The Idea Becomes A Machine is a conceptual art project which explores art works as instructions using the medium of text prompt based AI image generation. The piece assembles a narrative from text prompts and generated images. The work references the wall drawings, structures and seminal essay “Paragraphs on Conceptual Art” by American conceptual artist Sol LeWitt and juxtaposes them with tropes from science fiction including autonomous robots and a super intelligent AI which sends information into the past from the deep future.

The Idea Becomes a Machine will become available for collectors to mint at 21:00 UTC / 5PM EST on August 5th 2022 with privileged access for access list members followed by a public sale if supplies remain.
The Idea Becomes a Machine will be published an edition of 512 NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain.
The collection mint as a revealed, dutch-style auction. Minters will choose from 512 revealed pieces.
Prices will decrease during a 2 hour private sale period from 0.12 ETH at 21:00 UTC to 0.06 at 23:00 this Friday August 5th
At 21:00 UTC (5PM EST) this Friday August 5th the private sale period will start. Collectors who have registered via http://premint.xyz are invited to a 2 hour long dutch auction. Prices will decrease every 10 minutes until they reach 0.06 ETH at 23:00 UTC.
During the private sale period, collectors will not be limited in how many tokens they can mint. We will reveal the full gallery in advance of the private sale to give everyone an opportunity to review the pieces and choose works they enjoy.
After two hours, at 23:00 UTC Friday August 5th (7PM EST) the public sale will begin at a price of 0.06ETH.
At this point anyone will be allowed to mint as many tokens as they would like, choosing from the remaining available pieces.
After 48 hours, at 21:00 UTC on Sunday August 7th if any pieces remain un-minted, we as the dev team will mint them ourselves and place them in a vault where they will not be released on the secondary market for a minimum of two years, reducing available supply.
Because the collection has a real variety of different types of pieces within it this “revealed dutch-style auction” approach is an attempt to allow collectors to choose pieces that resonate with them, as opposed to random minting followed by a reveal.
There is no system of trait-based rarity in the collection.
About the artist
Matto is an artist working with code, generative visuals and procedural audio. He’s released music for respected labels like Warp Records and recorded with artists including Skepta, DJ /rupture and others under the name Matt Shadetek. He is a community contributor to Terraforms by Mathcastles and the creative director of the Hypercastle Explorers NFT project where he and the team at Thousand Ant created a realtime visualization and Unity SDK for Terraforms. His debut solo NFT project “Crash Archipelago” was released last year.
